Local commuters encouraged to consider alternate routes

RIDGEFIELD – An event in Clark County is expected to bring an additional 6,000 vehicles to I-5 and I-205 on the afternoon of Friday, July 10. Drivers should expect backups and delays to begin by 4 p.m., and local commuters are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Since the event location is near the convergence of I-5 and I-205, WSDOT recommends northbound event traffic use two different exits – Exit 9 (NE 179th Street) and Exit 11 (SR 502). This will lessen the need for drivers to weave across multiple lanes of traffic to exit the interstate, and reduce congestion on I-5, I-205 and Exit 9.

For northbound event traffic on I-5, WSDOT recommends drivers use Exit 11. Drivers should stay in the left lanes until they pass Exit 9, and then exit the interstate two miles north at Exit 11. Drivers can then turn left (west) onto SR 502, cross over I-5 and come back southbound on I-5 to Exit 9.

Northbound event traffic on I-205 may stay in the right lanes and use Exit 9.

WSDOT recommends local commuters consider alternate routes, such as SR 503.
