SEATTLE – The Washington Aviation Planning Council will meet to finalize statewide aviation recommendations on June 24 in the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) boardroom. The meeting will take place from 11 a.m. to noon.

Directions to PSRC: www.psrc.org/about/where/index.htm

Members of the public are welcome to attend.

As directed by state legislation (ESSB 5121), the Council has developed and will finalize recommendations to determine:

  • How best to meet commercial and general aviation capacity needs.
  • Which regions of the state are in need of improvement regarding the matching of existing, or projected, airport facilities and the long-range capacity needs at airports within the region expected to reach capacity before 2030.
  • Recommendations regarding the placement of future commercial or general aviation facilities to meet the need for improved aviation planning in the region.

The Council developed these recommendations using LATS Phases I and II findings, information from industry experts and public input. Recommendations will be forwarded to the Governor, Legislature, Transportation Commission and regional transportation planning  organizations by July 1, 2009.

More information about LATS is available at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/aviation/LATS.
