SPANAWAY– The intersection of SR 7 and 304th Street East (Kapowsin Highway) will soon be safer for drivers and pedestrians thanks to a $237,000 construction project WSDOT awarded to Travers Sound & Telecommunications this week.

This project supports 2 jobs. Construction is set to begin in late May and wrap up by the end of summer.

This project adds a traffic signal and crosswalks to this intersection, which has a history of collisions. Since 1999, there have been 32 collisions resulting in 59 injuries and two deaths.

Nearly 10,000 vehicles a day travel this stretch of highway.
