TACOMA – Work starting tonight at 9 and stretching into the early morning hours Friday requires lane and ramp closures, and rolling slowdowns on eastbound State Route 16 from the Tacoma Narrows to Interstate 5.

Drivers need to be alert as they travel through this work zone, and be ready for ramp-metering at the on-ramps to eastbound SR 16 during the Friday morning commute.

Crews building a new Nalley Valley viaduct are implementing long-term traffic revisions, including a significant lane shift approaching the viaduct and closures of the eastbound SR 16/Sprague Avenue on- and off-ramps.

These two Sprague ramps close around midnight tonight and will remain closed for more than two years. The on-ramp from eastbound SR 16 to Union Avenue also closes tonight, but reopens in the morning when crews finish striping the shifted eastbound lanes.
