Unique partnership with Darigold saves and promotes green
CHEHALIS – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is enlisting help from local cows to keep southwest Washington roads clear of snow and ice this winter.
WSDOT hosted a tour for media to see our our new salt brine farm in Chehalis, where we combine recycled dairy byproducts from Darigold with other natural ingredients to produce our very own inhibited road anti-icer, a snow and ice fighting product.
Anti-icing is the practice of applying chemicals to roadways to prevent frost and ice from forming and if it does, to keep it from compacting and bonding onto the highway.
WSDOT began using this product on US 12 White Pass last year and is now expanding its use to other state routes in southwestern Washington.
