WSDOT crews reopen US 12 near Randle in Lewis County following flood closure

RANDLE - Flood waters have receded relatively quickly allowing WSDOT maintenance crews to reopen US 12 near Randle in Lewis county. The road was closed completely late Wednesday night because of flood waters from nearby Davis Creek and the Cowlitz River. As the water receded, WSDOT Maintenance crews surveyed the condition of the road, revealing no damage.

The only remaining closure is SR 131 in eastern Lewis County, closed from mileposts 0 to 2 due to high water. Local detour is signed and in place. (SR 131 is only 2 miles long, so the entire stretch of this route is closed.)

Crews worked around the clock responding to the storm clearing drains, removing debris from travel lanes and managing traffic. WSDOT makes every effort to maintain the highways in the best condition possible, but conditions and weather can change rapidly. In any situation where drivers encounter water over the roadway, they should avoid driving through standing water and observe signs and barricades.
