TOPPENISH – WSDOT and the city of Toppenish will be hosting an open house to share information regarding the SR 22 – I-82 Toppenish Safety Improvements project on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the Toppenish Middle School. A speaker is not scheduled, so come at your convenience anytime from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“This project will improve safety along this two-mile stretch of highway, and provide wider lanes and shoulders for the more than 8,000 vehicles that use this route everyday,” said Jeff Minnick, WSDOT Project Engineer.
The $4.9 million project will improve safety by widening the roadway, flattening roadside slopes, upgrading guardrail, installing new sidewalks, and constructing intersections improvements along this two mile section of SR 22 between I-82 and Toppenish.
WSDOT engineers, real estate staff, the environmental office, and the City of Toppenish will be on hand to answer your questions about he current design concept, how the project will improve safety, and the project timeline.
