TACOMA – Crews will close the left lane of southbound I-5 near the Puyallup River Bridge beginning at 2 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 for cable median barrier repair. Crews will be off the roadway by 2 p.m. Saturday.
Over 2,000 feet of cable barrier was damaged in a collision earlier this week.
Cable median barrier is proven to help prevent head-on collisions. In this instance, the vehicle involved in the collision damaging the cable barrier did not cross over into on-coming lanes and no serious injuries were sustained.
WSDOT just released the annual cable barrier study. The 2008 report can be found on WSDOT’s Web site: www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/cablebarrier/Report2008.
