SEATTLE – WSDOT is seeking community comments as we move forward with environmental review and design for the Eastside Transit and HOV Project. We are hosting a meeting next week for the public to provide scoping comments for the project’s upcoming environmental analysis. We are also seeking public comments on our design concepts, including how the new transit stops and community lids will look and function.
The Eastside Transit and HOV Project is one of four projects within the SR 520 Corridor Program. Construction on the Eastside project is slated to begin in 2010. The project will benefit commuters by completing the HOV system from Lake Washington to SR 202, moving the HOV lane to the inside of the corridor, and building transit stops to support the inside HOV lane. Other project benefits include building a bicycle/pedestrian path, improving interchanges, and addressing environmental concerns such as traffic noise and stormwater.
At the meeting, the public will have an opportunity to review project materials, talk individually with project staff, ask questions and offer comments.
The open house will be held:
4 to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 23
North Bellevue Community Center
4063 148th Avenue NE
Bellevue
For those who cannot attend the open house, the materials will be posted online. Comments will be accepted through October 24 by E-mail at SR520Bridge@wsdot.wa.gov or by mail to: Eastside Transit and HOV Project, Attn: Bill Blaylock, 600 Stewart Street, Suite 520, Seattle WA 98101.
The North Bellevue Community Center is served by Metro routes 221, 232, 233, 242, 253, 266, 269, and 644.
