PORT ANGELES – Clallam County business owners are invited to attend a free
Hood Canal Bridge closure planning workshop that helps area residents get ready for the six-week May-June 2009 Hood Canal Bridge closure.
This is an opportunity to hear about closure transportation options, learn how to use them and share closure plans and ideas with others.
The Washington State Department of Transportation is working cooperatively with the Port of Port Angeles, Clallam County Economic Development Council, Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Sequim Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce and Forks Chamber of Commerce to sponsor this workshop that helps area residents plan ahead.
“Both WSDOT and the community have important roles to play in closure preparation,” said Olympic Region Administrator, Kevin Dayton. “Working together as a team, as we did during the August 2005 two-day closures, is essential for success in 2009.”
The meeting date and location is*:
Tuesday, September 23
Port Angeles City Council Chambers 321 East Fifth Street
Port Angeles
9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
If you plan to attend, please RSVP 253-305-6400.
During the six-week May-June 2009 closure, the contractor replaces the bridge’s east-half floating portion and transition spans. The work begins Friday, May 1, 2009. Additional project information, including WSDOT’s closure plan, is available at www.HoodCanalBridge.com.
*A similar workshop will be available in Jefferson County in October. For more information, contact Port Townsend and Jefferson County Leader Publisher Scott Wilson at swilson@ptleader.com.
