LAKEWOOD– Motorists traveling westbound on SR 512 in Lakewood tonight can expect a single right-lane closure near South Tacoma Way. This allows a contractor hired by the City of Lakewood to perform utility work.

Crews close the lane beginning at 8 p.m. tonight. Workers will be off the roadway by 4:30 a.m., before the Friday morning commute.

WSDOT asks motorists to slow down and pay close attention when entering a work zone whether it is on a city, county or state roadway. The life they save may be their own considering 99 percent of people killed or injured in work zone collisions are the driver or passenger.

If saving a life isn’t enough of an incentive to slow down and pay attention, drivers should remember traffic fines are double within a work zone.
