RIDGEFIELD – The northbound Gee Creek Safety Rest Area in Clark County will be closed starting at noon on Wednesday, August 27, announced the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). The rest area is located on I-5 northbound just north of Exit 9 (SR 502 East/NE 179th Street/Battle Ground).

Only the northbound rest area will be closed on Wednesday, between noon and 8 p.m. The southbound rest area will remain open to all traffic.

This closure will allow WSDOT’s contractor to safely finish paving the new Gee Creek Rest Area off-ramp, eliminating the temporary configuration of this off-ramp and providing easier access to the busy Gee Creek Rest Area prior to Labor Day weekend.

The next safety rest area north of Gee Creek is the Toutle River Safety Rest Area, located near Exit 52 (Toutle Park Road/Barnes Drive) in Cowlitz County.
