BURLINGTON – Crews will temporarily change the striping on I-5 in Burlington next week, shifting drivers in both directions a little closer to the median. This will create more room for crews working along the outside shoulder of the interstate to lengthen the on- and off-ramps at the SR 20 interchange (exit 230).
Crews will close the southbound right lane of I-5 from 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, to 5 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 26. The on- and off-ramps will remain open during the lane closures.
Lengthening the northbound I-5 off-ramp and the southbound I-5 on-ramp will help improve safety for drivers merging on and off the interstate.
This work is part of a $118 million safety and congestion relief project to widen five miles of SR 20 and improve access at the I-5, SR 20 interchange.
