Closures and construction to affect I-5 and I-90 express lanes schedule this weekend

SEATTLE – Construction, maintenance and a training exercise will affect the operation of the Interstate 5 and Interstate 90 express lanes this weekend and early next week.

Interstate 90 express lanes

The center reversible roadway will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25th. Washington State Department of Transportation crews will be installing new drains in the roadway.

Interstate 5 express lanes 

    • Sunday, Aug. 24: southbound opening delayed by 2 hours until 
    9 a.m. for the filming of a Seattle Fire Department training video. The 
    fire department will use the lower deck of the Ship Canal bridge.
    Residents in the University District may notice increased activity near the N.E.
    42nd Street ramp where the fire department will be accessing the express 
    lanes. 
    • Monday, Aug. 25: the Pike Street ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. 
    for roadway maintenance.
    • Monday, Aug. 25: the Stewart/Howell St. ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to
    11 p.m. for roadway maintenance.

These closures are not expected to significantly affect traffic. However, drivers are encouraged to check travel conditions in advance by visiting the WSDOT Web site for the latest information. www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/seattle/
