BATTLE GROUND – Final paving for the I-5, SR 502 Interchange Project will close portions of NE 10th Avenue and NE 219th Street this weekend, announces the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). Other work will impact traffic in the vicinity of the project, including signal work and temporary striping.
The following is a list of impacts and closures for Thursday, August 21 through Saturday, August 23.
10 p.m. Thursday, August 21 to 5 a.m. Friday, August 22
Starting at 10 p.m. Thursday, drivers on I-5 will encounter night time single lane closures in both directions as crews work on signal loops embedded in the concrete lanes of the interstate. Crews will be working in the right and center lanes. The right lane will be closed first. Once work is finished in the right lane, the center lane will be closed. Work will conclude by 5 a.m. Friday morning.
5 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, August 22
Starting at 5 a.m. on Friday, flaggers will guide traffic at the intersection of NE 10th Avenue and NE 219th Street in Duluth as crews pave in the vicinity. Drivers can expect short delays.
10 p.m. Friday, August 22 to 6 a.m. Saturday, August 23
Starting at 10 p.m. Friday, NE 10th Avenue between NE 214th Court and NE 209th Street and NE 219th Street between NE 10th Avenue and NE 22nd Avenue will be closed to all through traffic for final paving work. Detours will be signed and are as follows:
- Traveling north on NE 10th Avenue: Turn right (east) on NE 209th Street. Turn left (north) on NE 29th Avenue and left (west) on NE 259th Street. Turn right on NE 10th Avenue to continue north toward Ridgefield.
- Traveling south on NE 10th Avenue: Turn left (east) on NE 259th Street. Turn right (south) on NE 29th Avenue and right (west) on NE 209th Street. Turn left on NE 10th Avenue to continue south toward Vancouver.
- To travel north from NE 219th Street: Turn right (north) on NE 29th Avenue and left (west) on NE 259th Street. Turn right on NE 10th Avenue to continue north toward Ridgefield.
- To travel south from NE 219th Street: Turn left (south) on NE 29th Avenue and right (west) on NE 209th Street. Turn left on NE 10th Avenue to continue south toward Vancouver.
6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 23
Starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, drivers will encounter single lane closures on NE 10th Avenue between NE 214th Court and NE 209th Street and NE 219th Street between NE 10th Avenue and NE 22nd Avenue for continued paving work and temporary striping. Additionally, the signals at the intersection of NE 10th Avenue and NE 219th Street will be switched on Saturday afternoon.
Advanced warning signs will be posted. Motorists are asked to please pay attention to the warning signs. Motorists are also reminded that all traffic fines are doubled within a construction work zone when workers are present (RCW 46.61.527).
