VADER – Spotty weather and rainy conditions are forcing the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to delay closing State Route 506 this week in order to repair the bridge over Lacamas Creek. The work has been postponed until the forecast predicts a stretch of dry weather.
In order to safely and effectively perform the bridge deck resurfacing, maintenance crews needed a week of dry weather. Instead, weather forecast calls for rain this week, leading maintenance crews to the last-minute decision to cancel the planned work.
The original closure - starting at Telegraph Road - was set to begin today, August 18, and last through Sunday, August 24. During the closure, crews planned to remove the old pavement surface, replace weak deck timbers and repave the entire bridge.
