SEATTLE – Washington State Department of Transportation bridge crews will conduct monthly maintenance work on the SR 520 Evergreen Point Floating Bridge early Thursday morning.

Maintenance openings of the drawspan will begin at 12:30 a.m. and end at 5 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14. Crews will test the working order of the drawspan and conduct monthly safety checks. During the tests, drivers can expect the bridge to be closed to traffic intermittently for up to 30 minutes at a time. This monthly maintenance is usually scheduled on the second Thursday of every month.

Drivers will be alerted to "possible 30 minute delays" by electronic signs on highways that lead to the bridge. To avoid delays associated with the closures, drivers can take I-90 across Lake Washington.
