SEATTLE – Internet users trying to find Seattle area traffic information on WSDOT’s Web site may notice disruptions this weekend.

Moving equipment to widen I-405

Beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, several traffic cameras on the Seattle Area Traffic Web page between Renton and Auburn will be turned off until 5 a.m. Monday, July 28. This work will affect cameras along SR 167, SR 18 and I-405 will be affected. The equipment that carries signals to and from the traffic management center in Shoreline must be moved to allow crews to continue to widen I-405 though Renton.

Computer system upgrade

On Sunday morning, computer engineers are planning a system upgrade in the WSDOT’s Seattle Traffic Systems Management Center. This will result in some brief disruptions on the Seattle area page of the Web site from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sections of the Seattle area traffic flow map will appear white during that time. It will not affect 5-1-1 real time traffic information.

Drivers can now get real time traffic and weather information by dialing 5-1-1 from most phones. This new traveler information system builds upon the highly successful Washington State Highway hotline that managed 4.6 million calls each year. Callers can also use 5-1-1 to get statewide construction, mountain pass condition, and state ferry system information, as well as toll free numbers for passenger rail and airlines. TTY users can call 1-800-833-6388.
