SEATTLE – Some late night and early morning drivers could have an extended trip through south Everett this week due to a series of lane closures on Interstate 5. Crews working for WSDOT will close two lanes of northbound I-5 on Wednesday, July 23 and the two left lanes of southbound I-5 on Thursday, July 24 to stripe the roadway. The work is part of Sound Transit’s South Everett Freeway Station project.

* Wednesday, July 23 - Crews will close two lanes of northbound I-5 from 128th Street SE to SR 526 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping. The work is weather dependent.
* Thursday, July 24 – Crews will close the two left lanes of southbound I-5 from SR 526 to 128th Street SE from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping. The work is weather dependent.

When the project is complete, buses, carpools and vanpools will be able to go directly to and from the I-5 HOV lanes to a new 400-stall park-and-ride lot in the I-5 median at 112th Street SE.

A new access road from 112th Street SE will allow single-occupant vehicles to reach the park-and-ride. For more information, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/i5/SouthEverett
