WSDOT Travel Advisory

WSDOT closes westbound on-ramp to US 12 from 16th Avenue in Yakima June 30 - July 3

YAKIMA– WSDOT and our contractor will close the on-ramp from northbound 16th Avenue to westbound US 12 during daylight hours on Monday, June 30, through Thursday, July 3. Drivers will get to westbound US 12 from Yakima by following detour signs on local roads to the US 12 40th Avenue/Fruitvale interchange or the I-82 North First Street Interchange. Drivers should allow a little extra time to reach westbound US 12.

Eastbound travel on US 12 will not be affected.

This project will correct chronic bank erosion problems threatening US 12 and the aquatic habitat in the Naches River north of Yakima. The slopes or banks of the Naches River between the 16th Avenue and 40th Avenue interchanges will be stabilized by placing rocks, soil and plants in the river in order to redirect the river toward the hillside and away from US Highway 12. This project is funded through the 2005 Transportation Partnership Funding Package.
