BREMERTON – Bridge repair work requires closing the Manette Bridge next week in Kitsap County. Traffic will detour over the nearby Warren Avenue Bridge.

WSDOT bridge crews close the span Monday through Saturday, June 23 – 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Crews will be doing work to reinforce girders on the bridge.

A complete closure of the bridge is necessary because the 1930 structure is too narrow for traffic, equipment and the work crew to be on the bridge at the same time.

The Manette Bridge spans the Port Washington Narrows in Bremerton. A project to replace the bridge is scheduled to begin in 2010 with a 2012 target date for completion. About 12,000 vehicles a day cross the Manette Bridge.
