FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 30, 2008
VANCOUVER – In a cooperative effort by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), the Washington State Patrol (WSP) and the City of Vancouver, several on-and off-ramps on I-5 and State Route 14 will be closed between 6 p.m. and 12 midnight on the Fourth of July to help control traffic flow around the fireworks display area. These closures will occur on July 4 and are as follows:
6 p.m. to midnight (12 a.m.)
- Off-ramps from SR 14 eastbound & westbound to Columbia House Boulevard (exit 1) closed.
- Off-ramp from I-5 northbound to Mill Plain Boulevard closed.
- Off-ramp from SR 14 eastbound to Evergreen Boulevard/Riverside Drive (exit 3) closed.
WSDOT and the WSP would like to remind all motorists that stopping and parking along SR 14 or any of the on or off-ramps is prohibited. Both agencies will have vehicles patrolling the area starting at 6 p.m. As usual, motorists on SR 14 between Evergreen Boulevard and I-5 in both directions should anticipate very slow traffic during and immediately following the fireworks display. In addition, the Park & Ride Lot on SR 14 at Grove Street will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. on July 4, and will reopen at midnight (12 a.m.).
WSDOT also will have extra Incident Response Teams out on I-5 and SR 14 before, during and after the fireworks display to assist motorists who may experience car trouble while entering or leaving the fireworks viewing area.
