SHINE – The Hood Canal Bridge will close to traffic for 45 minutes between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Thursday, June 26 for pontoon survey work.
During the closure, crews from WSDOT and contractor Kiewit General will survey the existing draw span pontoons and determine whether adjustments will be needed in order to properly connect the bridge’s new east half when it is floated to the site in May-June 2009.
To access the pontoons, crews must open the Hood Canal Bridge draw spans, halting traffic across the bridge in both directions to conduct their work. While the closure is scheduled to last 45 minutes, drivers could experience longer delays due to traffic backups.
The Hood Canal Bridge retrofit and replacement project will take place from May-June 2009 and will improve the existing structure, making it wider, safer and more reliable. For more information, visit http://www.hoodcanalbridge.com/.
