Drivers should expect delays on SR 529 between Everett and Marysville Wednesday
WSDOT crews will inspect two bridges

EVERETT – WSDOT bridge maintenance crews will be busy Wednesday inspecting two bridges on State Route 529 between Everett and Marysville.

Steamboat Slough Bridge inspections
Crews began conducting annual inspections of the SR 529 Steamboat Slough Bridge Tuesday and will finish work on the bridge Wednesday.

Crews will close the bridge four times from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for twenty-minute long intervals. Crews must complete the work during the day when visibility is best. If crews notice long backups, they will open the bridge to traffic during these twenty minute long intervals.

“We’re keeping the closures as short as possible to keep traffic moving,” said WSDOT Bridge Maintenance Lead Technician Gary Voorhees.

Drivers should expect some delays on SR 529 and should consider alternate routes, if possible. Southbound I-5 drivers will be notified of bridge closures throughout the day on electronic message signs. If the signs indicate a bridge closure, southbound I-5 drivers should continue on I-5 and take the Everett Avenue exit to get back to SR 529.

Snohomish River Bridge repairs
Between 7 a.m. and 8 30 a.m. Wednesday crews will close the northbound Snohomish River Bridge twice for ten-minute-long intervals for draw span cable inspections. On Tuesday crews made emergency repairs to the cables.

“We’re doing these follow up inspections to ensure the bridge is functioning properly,” said WSDOT Bridge Supervisor John Weida.
