SEATTLE – A quarterly inspection of the Alaskan Way Viaduct will take place tomorrow, June 17.

Drivers will see WSDOT crews inspecting the Alaskan Way Viaduct as part of a three-month check-up. The inspection will include a structural inspection to check for growing cracks or other damage, and survey work to measure any additional settlement of the columns between Columbia Street and Yesler Way. The Viaduct has settled approximately 5.5 inches in this area since WSDOT began conducting the semi-annual inspections in 2002. In April, WSDOT completed repairs to these columns to limit further settlement and prevent further damage to the structure.

WSDOT crews conduct visual inspections every three months to monitor the Viaduct’s condition and keep drivers safe. WSDOT could release inspection results by Friday, June 20.
