WENATCHEE – Changes have been incorporated into the latest designs for the three SR 28/285 Senator George Sellar Projects and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) wants to find out what bridge users think of the changes. An open house is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28th, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Wenatchee Community Center, 504 South Chelan Street.
There are three Senator George Sellar Bridge Projects:
One adds another eastbound lane and builds a new bicycle/pedestrian structure on the south side of the bridge starting in 2009. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR285/EastGeorgeSellerBridge/The
The east end project builds a bypass west of Fred Meyer and Top Foods around SR 28 intersections at Grant Rd. and 3rd St. in 2010.

The west end project widens and changes the traffic flow at the approaches and will eliminate left turns toward Malaga from the bridge in 2012. www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR285/WestSellarBridgeIntersection/
The legislature recently approved extra money to cover construction cost increases. They also included additional funding for a tunnel and bicycle and pedestrian trail connections on the east end of the bridge.
The newest plans and photos will be on display and WSDOT staff will be available to answer questions about any aspect of the projects. The format will be informal (no presentation) and Hispanic interpreters will be available.
