SEATTLE - The Washington State Department of Transportation Ferries Division announced that starting Tuesday, Feb.19, full service will be restored on the Seattle/Bremerton route with the 188-auto Walla Walla and the 124-auto Kitsap. The Walla Walla will operate the #2 boat schedule. (Note:  Once full vehicle service resumes on the route, the Walla Walla and 124-auto Chelan will alternate operating with the Kitsap to ensure 2-boat service. Customers will be notified of all auto ferry changes.)

In the meantime, service scenarios are as follows:

February 13, 14, 15 & 18

For the remainder of this week - today, Thursday and Friday - and then on Monday, Feb. 18, service options on the Seattle/Bremerton route include:

  • 124-car Kitsap, which is operating on the normal #1 boat schedule.
  • 149-passenger ferry Snohomish operating on the normal #2 boat schedule, departing from the Bremerton Ferry Terminal and Washington State Ferries'' Pier 50 passenger dock (adjacent to Colman Dock) in Seattle. Crossing time is approximately 45 minutes.
  • Two, 149-passenger ferries leased from Victoria Express will depart from Kitsap Transit''s dock in Bremerton (adjacent to the Bremerton Ferry Terminal) and the Pier 50 passenger dock in Seattle. These ferries will supplement service provided by Kitsap and the Snohomish, and will depart either before or after the Snohomish to carry extra passengers. Crossing time for the Victoria Express ferries is approximately 60 minutes.

Customers unable to use their frequent rider cards for car travel may contact WSF Customer Information Manager Susan Harris-Huether at (206) 515-3460 to inquire about a refund.

February 16 & 17

Over the weekend, Feb. 16 & 17, the Chelan will keep normal weekend two-boat service on the Seattle/Bremerton route. The Chelan operates on the Vashon/Fauntleroy/
Southworth (triangle) route during the week.

"We greatly appreciate the patience and flexibility of our customers and communities with the service changes," states WSDOT/WSF Deputy Director Traci Brewer-Rogstad. "We are working hard to restore service because we know people depend on us every day."
