TRAVEL ADVISORY

WSDOT closes I-90 Indian John Hill rest areas for water and sewer upgrades

CLE ELUM – From Dec. 10 until Dec. 17, WSDOT is closing both I-90 eastbound and westbound Indian John Hill rest areas near Cle Elum to upgrade the water and sewer systems. No services available during the closure.

WSDOT apologizes for the inconvenience. These are the most popular rest areas on this cross state route and the only fully equipped safety rest areas on I-90 between Seattle and the Ryegrass Summit rest areas (130 miles east of Seattle) near Vantage. Travelers Rest, on SR 906, near the summit of Snoqualmie Pass, has a public restroom but very few parking spaces. Also on I-90, eastbound only, there is a public restroom with ample parking at Price Creek (9 miles east of Snoqualmie Pass).

The Indian John Hill rest areas have been closed frequently for short periods of time to do temporary repairs on the water and sewer systems. The replacements and repairs being done now are more substantial and should keep the systems functioning well for many years to come.
