The Washington State Department Transportation (WSDOT) Aviation wants your input on the Long-Term Air Transportation Study (LATS), Phase III Draft Communication Plan.

Review the Phase III Draft Communication Plan (pdf 490 kb).

Today, November 19, WSDOT is beginning a 30-day public review period to receive comment on the draft plan before it becomes a finalized product.

The draft communication plan outlines public involvement objectives and strategies for the third and final phase of LATS. As stated in the LATS legislation (ESSB 5121), Phase III will include the work of a ten-member Governor appointed Aviation Planning Council to make recommendations on:

  • How best to meet the statewide commercial and general aviation capacity needs.
  • Which regions in the state are in need of improvement regarding the matching of existing, or projected, airport facilities.
  • The long-range capacity needs at airports within the region expected to reach capacity before the year 2030.
  • Placement of future commercial and general aviation airport facilities designed to meet the need for improved aviation planning in the region.

The legislation also states that public input must be included in the council’s final recommendations. The LATS Phase III Draft Communication Plan will be crucial in ensuring that the public and stakeholders are kept informed and involved throughout the process.

Please review the draft plan and send your comments back to WSDOT Aviation by December 19, 2007. Comments can be faxed to (360) 651-6319; emailed to marveln@wsdot.wa.gov ; or mailed to WSDOT Aviation, PO Box 3367, Arlington, WA, 98223.

More information about LATS is available at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/aviation/LATS.
