ADA onboard WSF

Welcome aboard Washington State Department of Transportation Ferries Division (WSF). WSF is something to everyone—a highway, a transit system, an icon, or an adventure.
Over the last several years WSF has worked hard to make your sailing experience more accessible.

Planning ahead is the best way to ensure comfortable travel. WSF Information staff is available seven days a week to provide information and tips about our vessels and terminals. Call us and we can discuss your concerns. Information staff are available at (206) 464-6400 or (888) 808-7977.

  • ALL WSF employees have critical job functions to perform during loading and unloading operations.
  • If you need assistance with luggage, a wheelchair, etc., please bring an attendant as all terminals do not have wheelchairs available. Remember, with proper endorsement, an attendant rides free as a passenger or walk-on!
  • We will make every attempt to assist you, dependent on time, safety and employee availability.
  • State and Federal law only allows approved service animals in all public areas of our terminals and aboard Washington State Ferries.
  • Oxygen tanks, respirators and other medical equipment are permitted on Washington State Ferries. Oxygen tanks are limited to one per customer.

Arrive Early

Arrive at the terminal at least 20 minutes in advance of the sailing. A ticket seller may not notice your disabled license plate or placard (which is not proof for discounted fares), so please bring it to our attention. Other proof of disability will be honored for fare discount by WSF. Show the necessary proof if you are requesting a discounted fare, and ask about specific accommodation, if necessary. We will do our best to meet your needs. Accommodations for all passengers are made on a first-come, first-serve, space available basis.
